Rage Against an Empty Bank Account?

February 26th, 2007 by Andrew Aleon Leon

Rage Against the machine is gambling with the collective careers

Either Rage Against the machine gets back together, or they RUIN… and I mean Ruin, the reputation they built up during their careers as anti capitalisim pro revolution Political activists. After reading the LA Times article that my buddy Stevezie posted in the forums, it became more and more obvious that they were reuniting for all the wrong reasons. Cochella sold out EIGHTY DAYS IN ADVANCE. Scalper prices are getting to rediculous levels. Thus, the washed up rock stars decided, hey, people still give a shit, Lets cash in. They booked Rock the bells and will continue to headline all throught summer concert season and then fade into oblivion agai, their pockets a few million dollars heavier…

So

Lame.

OR……

I'm completely wrong and they band is putting aside their diffrences and mounting a comeback that could very well position them very near the top of the rock world. Rage realized they need Zach. Zach realized he needed Rage, so they got together and had a super fun makeout session. Hopefully they are now back in all their Dreadlock, Che Guevarra, Fight the power goodness.

Otherwise, I lose all respect for everything they ever were and ever stood for. And I hope to god that that isn't the case.

In defense to RATM I think these guys are natural born activist, and if money comes their way for making music with a message and for helping other people why not? plus I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Morello and Zack de la Rocha and they are the most humble people ever. For those that supported the South Central Farmers in L.A. know what I am talking about and I think this reunion comes out just at the right time, its 7 years of anger ready to BLOW!

“Rage guitarist Tom Morello has said that the reunion is driven in part by politics and a desire by him and his compatriots to rally young people against President Bush, the war in Iraq and the Republican Party.”
