Engadget Rumor Costs Apple 4 Billion Dollars

Newsfactor reported that an allegedly false report posted on Engadget may have temporarily cost Apple $4 billion until its stock rebounded later that day. Engadget posted information based on an email that was allegedly sent from inside Apple’s email network. That email indicted that the iPhone’s release would be delayed, as would the next version of OS X.

After the post, Apple’s stock dropped 2.2%, recovering by the end of the day for only a 0.17% decrease. Apple followed the post with an official email refuting the rumor.

Ahh, the power of blogs…. where an unnamed source and a dude with a powerbook can sheppard the masses and cause hundreds of millions of dollars of damage with a single post. It's the internet…. HOORAY INTERNET….

Which is a roundabout way for me to share the newest Redstripe commercial that i saw on tv recently..[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pemh-eZm6fI]
