Linkin Park at the House of Blues
So its Monday morning and i dont' have a desk
I'm kickin it in the Sitv Hallways and i figured i'd fill you in on the "out of control" musical weekend that i had. While not as intense as Coachella, it does rank up there in the top ten for most musical weekends of all time.
I should start at the begining.
Its Friday morning. The Kid "Steve in da mix" and i were chatting it up about Linkin park. He told me that he had tickets to the jimmy kimmel show to see them… but they changed venues….not cool. So he pops online and finds out that they are playing at the house of blues and are selling tickets for 7.50 a pop… sounds too good to be true….well thats because it is.
Tickets go on sale at 10:00… it's 9:48….Steve and I hop online and click refresh an hundred thousand times and FINALLY tickets go on sale. In the words of Eric Cartman, Sweeeet.
Wait, Password Protection…. Fuckin NOT sweet. We cant buy tickets. I check the LP street team website… nothing, I check the LP myspace, Nothing, THe LP homepage?.. you guessed it… nothing. so i do what any diehard fan would do… i start guessing.
JKLP?… Nope
LPJK?… Nope
HOBJK?… Nope
Then, i fuckin score, LPHOB…. your tickets are reserved. I felt like Hugh Jackman in Swordfish right after the Halle Berry Blowjob/Hacking the pentagon scene. (good movie BTW) (Don't Believe that i guessed right? check the LP myspace bloog, The PW was posted at 10:21, by then, all Tickets were LONG gone.)
so i buy two tickets and Vuala, I'm In
Steve tries the moment I'm done. sooooolllldd out.
Mega burn. So, being the nice guy that i am, I offer him my spare ticket. WE head down to the HOB and LP announces that besides the two songs that they are doing for Jimmy Kimmel, they are going to put on a full set for us.
un-freakin-believable, 7.50 for LP tickets in a 1000 person venue? That's unheard of, I can't get into a battle of the BANDS for 7 fiddy, much less see a full LP set. Truth be told, I was never a big fan of the new album, however, after seeing them perform the songs live, i gotta say that they are growing on me.
What i CAN do is safely say that they sound BETTER live then on wax.
Amazing experience and an amazing show.
Here's the Jimmy Kimmel video, which im sure is much more watchable that the hundred camera phone clips i saw on youtube.
check it out
