Linkin Park’s Album DOMINATES sales charts

May 23rd, 2007 by Andrew Aleon Leon

Surprise, surprise: Linkin Park's third LP, Minutes to Midnight, will open at #1 on next week's Billboard albums sales chart — an impressive victory that anyone could've seen coming down Broadway in a taxi cab.

With close to 623,000 copies sold, Minutes to Midnight not only gives the California outfit the second #1 debut of its career (2003's Meteora bowed at #1 with 810,500 sold), it also earns the distinction of being 2007's best-selling first-week performer — surpassing Norah Jones' Not Too Late, which netted week-one sales of 405,000-plus.

awwww… it's LP all growed up and people still love their new sound. Well congratulations to LP for doing whatever you want… and getting rewarded for it.

Bravo

Good point about LP growing up. An interesting thing I wonder is if you’re a popular band, is it better to wait a while between albums and build anticipation or just dish em out year after year. Minutes to Midnight came out a full 4 YEARS after Meteora (their last album). In our crazy fast-paced world, you wonder if people would forget about LP after 4 years or be craving them even more. Hmmmmmm….
